Glossary of terms

There are many terms and phrases that are referred to when discussing commercial landscaping and office plants. We have tried to take some of the mystery out of this and give you some helpful glossary definitions.

Lica - Expanded clay that is used as a top dressing and also in the watering system.

Mulch - Shredded or chipped branches and shrub prunings. Uses are many but most obvious is that it rots down and feeds the soil. Also keeps the soil from drying out and increases insect activity.

Watering System - Water reserve at the base of the planter. Reduces the waste water and frequency of watering. Makes plants grow roots to look for water.
